It's been a hell of a long time since I picked up my D300s and used it for anything other then a paperweight. There has been a myriad of reasons that I've stopped taking photos. But at the very last second I grabbed it on impulse as I was heading out to the Guernsey match.

I'm very rusty and having been using a 35mm lens exclusively for the last few months on a completely different form factor; it took a while for the muscles in my hands to remember what they should be doing.

But the camera reminded me just how responsive it is. Focus snapping in an instant, locking and tracking. 8 frames per second burst rate, comes as a shock to the system when you've been shooting at slow speeds and long exposures.

Maybe it isn't quite time to give up on photography as something other than a way to supplement my memory when I travel.

I don't know any more. I just don't know. But I do know that if pushed, I'd still describe my skill as poor, and at this time lack the confidence to say that I can change that.

When I was growing up and as an adult I was always a Spurs fan. But I always hoped that Guernsey would have a league team. Today they played the first match in their history outside of the Guernsey league system. How did they go? How does 5-0 sound?

Today for the first time in a long time I'm damn proud to be a donkey. Arson (including my own motorbike), assaults and other vandalism seem to be all I've heard about recently. Today, we showed the great side of this island. In a league with an average attendance of 42, Guernsey FC produced a home crowd of 1,475!

I've just bought my season ticket, and I'll be taking photos of the rest of the season. So I'll be supporting the team in my own way. I hope the rest of the island gets behind the project as much as possible because as it seems pretty damn incredible that my little island is now competing against non-league teams, and lets all hope they can earn promotion this year and become the next AFC Wimbledon who after 9 years just earned their place in the football league, but only just managed to beat the Green Lions 5-6!
